Hope

The endless fire consumes the night,
a blaze of terror in its wake,
accented by the clash of blades,
the lives of all are at stake,

and as the morning mist arrives,
the smell of death fills the air,
but a glimmer of hope still remains,
amidst the darkness and despair,

a lone sapling stands with pride,
against the hatred and sorrow,
defying bitterness and strife,
it looks toward a new tomorrow,

a single dewdrop gently falls,
from its fragile leaves,
a sparkling crystal, a tear of hope
for life to begin anew.
